PET VACCINATIONS
Vaccinating your Dog or Cat is the easiest way of preventing illness and disease.
We can determine which vaccines are needed during your pet’s annual wellness visit.
We understand that as pet owners it is very important that your furry friends are protected against viruses and/or diseases. At Barrie Animal Hospital we strongly recommend that all felines and canines are up to date on recommended vaccines.Some benefits to vaccinating your pets are listed below.
- Vaccines help to prevent illnesses by strengthening the immune system and creating disease fighting cells in the body!
- Vaccines cost less than the treatments that are available for pets who are not vaccinated against diseases/illnesses.
- Both outdoor and indoor pets can be exposed to very dangerous diseases (such as rabies) so it is important to be safe rather than sorry!
Core and Non Core Vaccinations!
Some vaccinations are considered “essential” by veterinarians.
Non core vaccinations are not essential, but can sometimes be recommended based upon the lifestyle of your furry friend.
Some examples of core vaccines for canines include:
- Rabies
- Distemper
- Leptospirosis
Bordetella would be considered a non core vaccination but could be necessary for grooming, boarding or training classes.
Some examples of core vaccines for felines include:
- Rabies
- Panleukopenia
- Calicivirus
Feline Leukemia would be considered one of our non core vaccination options.
